HI,
MY NAME’S MAREEZE

I'm a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Naarm (Melbourne). I graduated from the Victorian College of Arts in 2020.

I work across photography, digital collage, sculpture and oil painting. My practice explores ideas of representation, beauty and the female experience. With my work I question Western ideals of beauty and how the female body has been historically depicted, instead showcasing the beauty of various female forms.

My works are personal; I include my own body in the digital collages as an ongoing dialogue with my own sense of identity.

My surrealist landscapes and decayed sugar sculptures question our societal obsession with beauty through reclaiming and re-representing objects associated with traditional femininity. In a range of mediums, my works engage with issues of scale, colour and soft shaping.I was born in France, was raised in Brisbane, and am currently living and practicing in Melbourne.
